MEDJUGORJE UPDATE: the Imitation of Christ

MEDJUGORJE UPDATE: the imitation of Christ

..Thomas A Kempis wrote the imitation for the true lovers of Christ as guide to the spiritual life...let us ponder one verse and thereafter reflect...

 Ninth Chapter

 ON OBEDIENCE & SUBJECTION
IT IS a very great thing to obey, to live under a superior and not to be one’s own master, for it is much safer to be subject than it is to command. Many live in obedience more from necessity than from love. Such become discontented and dejected on the slightest pretext; they will never gain peace of mind unless they subject themselves wholeheartedly for the love of God.

Go where you may, you will find no rest except in humble obedience to the rule of authority. Dreams of happiness expected from change and different places have deceived many.

Everyone, it is true, wishes to do as he pleases and is attracted to those who agree with him. But if God be among us, we must at times give up our opinions for the blessings of peace.

Furthermore, who is so wise that he can have full knowledge of everything? Do not trust too much in your own opinions, but be willing to listen to those of others. If, though your own be good, you accept another’s opinion for love of God, you will gain much more merit; for I have often heard that it is safer to listen to advice and take it than to give it. It may happen, too, that while one’s own opinion may be good, refusal to agree with others when reason and occasion demand it, is a sign of pride and obstinacy.

-Thomas a Kempis, The Imitation of Christ

..now a prudent lover of Christ and his Church if they apply the above contemplation to their
discernment of the events at MEDJUGORJE must readily admit that among the adherents of MEDJUGORJE  holy obedience as it is explained by Thomas a Kempis is not practiced at MEDJUGORJE...instead we have slavish sycophantic adoration of emotions and self-educed vibrations...everything is based on sensibility and sense has been orphaned....

....as well among many proponents of MEDJUGORJE we are told we must visit this place..however as Thomas A Kempis has written many are deceived by dreams of happiness and expected change of scenery...for many a visit to MEDJUGORJE allows them to escape the dreary reality which encompasses them ..however for the true lover of Christ in the dark recesses of a dreary reality is exactly where one can evince the light of Christ...to find Christ in the poor and disenfranchised of your immediate vicinity is what the true beloved desires...to become the personification of Christ to those in your family and your colleagues as it befits your station in life...this is how Christ and his Church ensconces itself amidst the fibre of an aberrant social miasma...

.....when one is obedient out of necessity their cloaked disposition is revealed when they rebel once they have received an order which their reason refuses to submit...if one is obedient out of love and yearns to truly live inside the beloved..since the will is moved towards the thing that is loved so too a true lover will  accede to a  command that is averse to one’s own will in order out of holy desire to be transformed in love and acquire the beloved’s will...as we see in the Church of Christ the will of Christ resides in the will of the magisterium...we have seen two successive bishops call for a ban on the false mysticism associated with MEDJUGORJE..as well the Vatican itself has not made any declaration apart from the Zadar commission which states that no pilgrimage may be made as an attestation of supernatural events which calls for further Church review...and so private dissipation of any message out of MEDJUGORJE with a tag “Words of the Mother of God”  cannot be made according to the Vatican without incriminating one self as an apostate magister...those person’s disseminating such material are in open defiance of the Church ( the Vatican and the local Ordinary)...

..indeed this cannot be pleasing to God..it makes a mockery of the true Church..amen
