Marshall McLuhan the great Canadian pioneer on the philosophy of communication theory ..the man who coined the phrase ..Global village... tells us that...

 THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE

 

McLuhan tells us that a "message" is, "the change of scale or pace or pattern" that a new invention or innovation "introduces into human affairs."..as well McLuhan states that the medium is any extension of ourselves…for example a tool such as a hammer or a computer or even thoughts and language….

So we see at MEDJUGORJE... owing to the subjective attitude among proponents of the apparitions that  a spirit  of mutiny and insubordination  tacitly sanctions...

 the MESSAGE of MEDJUGORJE as one of SUBJECTIVISM and DISOBEDIENCE to authorized church authority…

 

..the ground of the medium is the attitude or intellect and will of the advocates of the messages themselves…we see the attitude towards church authority has changed…whether it is owing to the libertarian influence of Vatican 2 (pastoral council) or a misconstrued understanding of prior teaching of the Extraordinary Universal Magisterium… which carries a note of infallibility..to which the novel aspects of Vatican 2 do not due the councils pastoral nature..however when Vatican 2 refers to prior extraordinary universal proclamations then such parts of Vatican 2 can be said to be infallible…we must be wary of falling into indifferentism, latitudinarianism, subjectivism, syncretism etc….

..except to where the syllabus contradicts infallible church teaching by the extraordinary universal magisterium….

When we are told by the apparition itself to disobey ..regarding two priests who were suspended in the diocese the apparition told the seers…Thursday April 15, 1982..the apparition gives advice to the suspended priests

….Do not obey anyone!Do not blame yourselves for anything at all, and above all do not go away from Mostar…

it should be noted that the pope took away their priestly priviledges of saying confession and mass ..eventually they were reduced to the lay state…however the apparition contradicts the pope so we must be wary…we see that the message here is the change in attitude of the church”s faithful towards its magisterium and its edicts and decrees…

…the meaning of "the medium is the message:" We can know the nature and characteristics of anything we conceive or create (medium) by virtue of the changes - often unnoticed and non-obvious changes - that they effect (message.)…

..and in MEDJUGORJE  we see so much advertising of pilgrimages which indeed are disobedient to a decree by the local bishop as well as to the zadar commission which is the official position of the church…the church allows people to visit however by visiting MEDJUGORJE one cannot make such a visit a verification that the apparitions are of supernatural origin…

…so we see that is what we have at MEDJUGORJE  the dangerous luxury of subjectivism and emotion and good feelings has been substituted by the insight and understanding of the local bishop..it is he who holds the authority of the church on matters of private revelations in his diocese…

‘Thus to promise prayers only in exchange for a certain sum of money is simony forbidden by divine (natural) law.To confer sacred orders or obtain some position of authority in the Church in return for money or its equivalent is simony forbidden by ecclesiastical law. When simony is against the divine law, it is always a grave sin. .…as we see in the seer Ivan offering stays at his private chapel with a vision for the price of admission…

..the spirit of consumerism or the merchant mentality in the end consumes itself and loses its ability to actualize itself fully since it is weighed down by the objects (materialism) of its passions..outside of right reason (prudence)… since God is the simplest of all substances he cannot be divided and he cannot weigh the soul down instead everyone who rests in God and his church is able to actualize themselves fully since God is pure actuality…the lover transformed in the beloved…amen

......concerning the first temptation we can see that Christ is tempted to conjure a miracle and to turn false doctrines and lies into truth(stones into bread)...for it is said that the word of God is food or bread to the intellect and the contrary to this would be stones...

 

 

And there you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, that neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. Deuteronomy  4:28

 

...the gods made of wood ..wood is a commodity that can be carved according to the whims of the artificer..for example a god conjured from the imagination of man which can be the amalgamation of many strange desires or elucidations...it is a god that can change..yet God never changes....accordingly these false gods are of stone...meaning dead doctrines based in errors and falsehood...they cannot see because they are in darkness..as it says in John  Jesus is the light and the darkness did not know the light....etcc.....

 

..however elsewhere in the bible it is told that Jesus is the chief stone..from him come all good doctrine....as it says in Ephesians 2:20      ..the mystical body of Jesus is the church so all good doctrine stems from the church....

 

And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father. For I tell you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham

..in a literal sense God is able to raise righteousness out of the dust as he was able to make Adam from the dust and change the state of fallen man through Christ...  in a spiritual sense God is  able to  take false teaching and expose it through the works of the saints and the church thus creating good from evil in an incidental way through his permissive will.....

...as it says in scripture it would be better if a millstone be tied to those who mislead God’s children and that they should be cast into the abyss...the stone spiritually represents lies, false teachings, and errors,and the justice of God or his wrath which falls upon those who follow false teachings...   the abyss represents the wasteland of ignorance which the deluded soul must wander in finding no rest in truth...So we see in medjugorje people travel there to tempt God into conjuring up words from heaven on a daily basis...they ask for a sign...they ask for a miracle..yet the miracle has occurred in the mass...Jesus has given himself already...what is happening in medjugorje is only a reenactment of the devil tempting Christ

 

 

...concerning the second temptation we can see the devil tempts Christ to cast himself down...in a spiritual sense this is to trust his human intellect and not have faith in God...since we see this in medjugorje the seers are telling the faithful not to trust the local bishop but to believe what they say...if we take God as the church and his pastors we see that we are casting our intellect down to human subjectivism in hope that God’s angels will protect us from harm and cause us to make good decisions..however when our mind is not focused on heaven and the traditions of the church we can see that we are following a temptation of the devil..indeed we shall dash our feet against stones(false doctrines and errors) since we are following what the seers say and not what the church tells us through her local ordinary (the bishop of Mostar)....

 

....concerning the third temptation we see the devil tempts Jesus to fall down and adore him or to embrace the spirit of the world...  we are told in scripture three times of the prince of the world

 

.... John 12:31... Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out
.
John 14:30…Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

John 16:11…Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged…

 

so we see the cities and kingdoms that Satan offers in a moral sense are those things which the world holds in high esteem…namely riches and material goods…and so in a moral sense we see that the devil is offering all good feelings and pleasant experiences…however as Catholics we are told to embrace the cross… when we hear it said that the devil took Jesus to high place in a spiritual sense he is talking about being proud..since those who are humble are lowly and meek..and God chooses the lowly and meek not those who are high and proud…when we are lowly and meek we listen to the voice of God…the voice of God proceeds from his church…in medjugorje the advocates of the seers have not listened to the voice of God …the local bishop….and so we can safely say they are fooled…they are indeed listening to the spirit of the devil which is high and proud…indeed many people are not intentionally guilty of a proud spirit..however they are guilty of complacency..and part of pride is complacency of spirit…they have false humility..they acknowledge that they themselves are sinners however they do not maintian a recollected disposition ... they believe they are very holy since heaven has touched them through the spirit of medjugorje…and they have no need to look inside themselves too deeply...those who are proud do not examine  themselves because they feel they have no faults apart from their frailties..and so as a result of pride God permits them to fall into complacency..so they trust every decision they make as a right decision since they believe the holy spirit guides them..however the devil who is the author of this complacency emboldens these people and causes them to sink ever deeper into lusts for happiness and blessings…and in so doing such people are turned inside out..they look for outward feelings and blessings instead of searching for the kingdom of God within ...and so the devil has accomplished what he has set out to do... he perverts holy exercises with hopes that many people fall away from the cross and its mortifications…in this way the devil tempts people with impulses to pray and ask God for blessing and inspires good feelings within the soul with the express desire to cut people off from the true cross of Christ and all Christian charity….so the more the seers of medjugorje offer new apparitions the more the followers lust after these visions…and so true faith based on perseverance and hope in the things unseen is replaced with a false faith in the things seen and heard.. as Jesus said...

 ...the doubting thomas or the proponent of medjugorje who needs to see before they believe....

..this temporal sight is a great hindrance to spiritual growth since people who follow medjugorje feel they are already holy since God talks directly to them through the seers and now they feel they have no need to journey the way of the cross since they feel they have already arrived and are saved..they believe their belief in MEDJUGORJE is a great treasure and that few receive such a great blessing and so they pity those who do not believe and so true charity is perverted into pity since pity involves feelings of self-grandeur and charity involves feelings of God’s forgiveness and love…this  is an impediment to charity since one believes those who have not received such blessings are below them and so they lack empathy and compassion the heart deceived  by pity cuts them off from true charity and unity..all this serves to heighten their pride which puffs up their ego and makes them self-righteous…they believe they know all there is to know about MEDJUGORJE and the workings of God and grace… and this is all self serving which since the devil is its author can be defined as spiritual pride and inordinate self love….because they pity others they have no spirit of mercy..since the spirit of mercy seeks to lift others to the same place one is at spiritually…that is why the spirit of MEDJUGORJE is one of contention ..it is splitting the church from within …and so the devil is indeed ruining unity….in this way the charity we see from the followers of medjugorje is the same as the charity of Lazarus and dives …its charity directed at serving themselves and not the church and Jesus..since they openly defy the bishop of Mostar….

 

 

 

“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. ²⁰ At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores ²¹ and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

The rich man dressed in purple and fine linen shows he has false humility since  purple denotes penance and humility however the fine linen shows a love of the world and this dress betrays the duplicity of his spirit...this rich king is one who experiences all sorts of blessings that he receives from God and who lives in pleasure and luxury of the senses yet he does not honour God fully by longing to have Lazarus with him in spirit but only giving him the scraps of the blessings he receives from God...the rich king is feasting at the banquet of false piety and spiritual gluttony...Lazarus we can see is the person who has a hard life but is humble since he longs to be good like the rich man...out of humility he believes himself to be wretched since he has true humility and not false humility....so he does not realize that God has blessed him more by giving him all sorts of afflictions or spiritual trials since it is through afflictions and perseverance that we gain the cross of Christ...as it is in true humility the closer one is before God the more wretched the soul appears to itself since such a soul sees God as he is in glory and splendour and perfection and the humble soul sees itself as it is and  realizes its great need for the mercy of God to keep it from falling into utter hopelessness.....so every blessing such a soul gets it quickly gives away to its neighbour through charity since it believes it deserves nothing but  wishes to possess God only ..since even blessings become impediments to union between a soul who loves God for God’s sake only....and so we say that charity quickens the spirit and the soul....as it makes such a soul free from any burden since everything it receives(including blessings) from God it gives away so that the soul can have God alone whom it so strongly longs for...Jesus said my yoke is easy and my burden is lite...indeed we shouldn’t pray for afflictions but we should accept them when they come our way... and pray for the strength to bear them with the help of God’s grace......let us all closely examine ourselves to see where we stand in God’s eyes as he is not how we wish him to be......amen

...indeed as many saints have said..the devil is the father of lies...as has been seen in the past the so called seers themselves have been caught in a lie or two....

 

According to the seer named vicka it was told by the apparition that the reason the 25th of each month is important is owing to the fact that was the day the virgin met all the six seers together for the first time but in actual fact the 24^th was the first day that the apparition was seen..however when interviewed later ivan told the priest interviewing that he was not there the second day..as he was busy picking tobacco leaves...so the apparition itself made a mistake or lied saying that the 25^th was the first day that she saw all the seers together as a group....

 

..the early spiritual leader of the seers tomislav vlasic and questionable seer agnes heupel   founded a scandalous community of religious men and women (co-ed) at the command of the so called apparition of medjugorje as confirmed by the seer called marija..however later after it was revealed the community was a scandal the seer named marija retracted her statement declaring in public that she never asked our lady for endorsement of the community...now vlasic after being laicized has founded a UFO cult  known as The Central Nucleus with another questionable seer named Stefania Caterina.... 

 

...as well the seer called ivan in the early stages of the phenomenon declared that there would be a sign given by the apparition and that all would see it and this sign would appear on apparition hill however the sign never materialized....when I van was exhorted by the commission to write  details about the sign on a piece of paper and place the sheet in an envelope he told the commission he had not written anything on the sheet..however when it was opened later it was seen he had written something and that there was a date on which the sign was to occur..however it never occurred…the sign was to be a great shrine erected in medjugorje on the sixth month of that year sometime in the 1980’s however it was never built….in effect ivan the seer lied twice…

 

..indeed the seer called mirjana talked early on of a parchment made of  heavenly material on which all ten secrets are written and that only she can read…however she has never offered this sheet to be analyzed….

 

…early on during one ecstasy in the church a reporter made a feigned attempt at poking one of the seers eyes during an ecstasy when the  seer then flinched and recoiled from the finger poke…if the seers are in ecstasy and cannot see or hear anything around them then this test betrays what the seers are telling us….

...as we see with many advocates of MEDJUGORJE when they are questioned as to the veracity of events that have taken place in the past and are still occurring many advocates become guarded and offensive as if one is attacking their personal character... as it is said... the devil is a proud spirit and this spirit cannot bear to be questioned or mocked..

…why is this..it is simple because the devil is a self absorbed spirit….all his will is bent in and twisted down upon himself…this is the opposite of altruism and charity whose will desires communion  & unity…indeed that is why a learned exorcist once said there is no rejoicing in hell..there is only loneliness and the despair which accompanies loss of unity..since every will in hell is cut off from the other..there is no unity…sin is directed at the self..love is directed at the other..it is the opposite face of the spiritual coin we see through pride and envy…if we follow Jesus we will be humble and we will bear scorn out of love for the divine master..as Jesus did on Calvary..however when people are easily angered we see that the gentleness of Christ does not yet reside within them….

…remember the devil can counterfeit any virtue but he cannot counterfeit obedience ..through disobedience and his anti-fiat ( I will not serve) he fell from grace every vestige of that virtue was erased from his soul..now the devil relies on tricks instead of truths…if he is able to make a trick look like truth then he has accomplished what he set out to do and that is to extinguish charity wherever he sees it… a red flag for the presence of the devil is disobedience….

Sister faustina of the divine mercy …

Jesus told her “I was obedient to my parents, my executioners and now I am obedient to my priests”. St Faustina said the devil can imitate humility but not OBEDIENCE. The fall of the devil and adam and eve was through lack of obedience.

.indeed even Jesus is obedient to his priests..at the epiclesis  or the words of institution during the consecration of the Eucharist Jesus obeys the celebrant and comes down to earth under the appearances of bread and wine…if Jesus is obedient to the bishop of Mostar whenever he confects the Eucharist why can’t the seers themselves be obedient….

 

As well Jesus dictated to faustina in her diary...

 

 

My daughter, know that you give Me greater glory by a single act of obedience than by long prayers and mortifications.” (894)

 

..indeed all we have lost due to disobedience to the ordinary(bishop) at MEDJUGORJE cannot be estimated since as the act of disobedience of eve brought sin into the world and the ramifications are enormous so too the defiance of the bishop at medjugorje has through the butterfly effect caused much upheaval within the church…

 

as john van ruysbroeck the distinguished Flemish mystic and spiritual director who lived during the 1300’s said…many people who are spiritually proud pray and beseech God for many things, they mortify their bodies and practice austerities of myriad kinds..when it happens that sometimes through the action of the devil they receive an answer to their prayer they believe that it is from God since they are proud and through spiritual complacency they do not know what they lack..and so they are greedy for healings and blessing of every sort..this is  spiritual lust it is pious activity directed for one’s own personal gain and satisfaction…some of these people become possessed by the devil in extreme cases..the devil’s disciples so to speak…and they are unaware due to pride and spiritual complacency…let us pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who have been deceived by the work of the devil in MEDJUGORJE and thank God that through the sacraments souls have been pulled from the snares of the devil…amen

...indeed Yeats did not intend the parallel i am about to make however...Yeats was trying to describe poetically what happens when conflict arises between the human and the spiritual realm...this poem aptly characterizes how God can communicate through the conflict when the human will  rebels against the divine will...revealing a trace a sign or delivering a portent...indeed when things go wrong we can begin to question whether we are on the right road or not...if we are alert we will recognize the voice of God warning us of danger....we must analyze our surroundings and be meticulous as to how to proceed along our journey....remember out of great tribulation apocalyptic messages emerge...in short we learn from our mistakes...

..now to take some artistic license with Yeats’ famous poem the second coming and illustrate how the spirit of Man  spiritus mundi...has symbolically usurped the church(lion body and head of man(subjectivism)) at medjugorje..the lion being symbolic of Christ the Lion of Judah.. and used it for its humanist festivals of so called peace...syncretism..and how the indignant desert birds (the seers of medjugorje)..indignant since they continue to embarrass the church by indignantly proclaiming that Mary is promoting disobedience to a bishop in good standing with Rome....we are told by the seer that she will be bringing Mary to all people of good will and by doing so in the Holy Land it will be a show of unity throughout the whole world..indifferentism...now this could not be further from the truth..since Jesus said he is truth...

 

37 Pilate said to him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears my voice." 38 Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" ….however since this apparent apparition in medjugorje has not been embraced by the church (the local ordinary) we cannot say with certainty that there is any truth in it….and so it does not belong to the deposit of truth…nor even an adjunct or accessory to truth...such as a spiritual rill or gloss...without truth there can be no peace..since peace is the movement of the will to achieve a common good in concordance of love anchored in the artifacts of truth…since there can be no true peace except when our appetites are moved to what is absolutely good…without truth there can be only the semblance of peace which is a mirage in effect…which is exactly what type of peace the seer at medjugorje is referring to..since all people of good will do not see truth through the same standards…good will is not relativistic it is absolute and it stems from the possessor of the passion to do good to be motivated by the good as it emanates from Christ….indeed by following the seers themselves people are crucifying Christ all over again(the church and her bishop) by choosing Barabbas (the seer) the seer being the spiritual criminal who is stealing the authority of the bishop and the church and taking it with her to Bethlehem in a show of arrogance and defiance….

…so what will be happening in the Holy Land this august will be a festival of humanism..the spiritus mundi..or the spirit of subjectivism and its hour will come around at last…indeed a parallel of the second coming..we hear nation will rise (in arrogance and conceit) against nation…whether in defiance of truth or in pride the nations have indeed risen…if they are to converge on Bethlehem in a superficial show of unity each nation’s spiritual prerogative betrays the spectacle since in spirit each one is against the other… nations being the bodies of aberrant philosophical belief (subjectivism, consequentialism, empiricism, utilitarianism etc..)..in effect it will be a harbinger of the facelift that will occur in the church if the phenomenon of medjugorje is not quelled…amen

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

..in Thomas aquinas’ commentary to verse 1 of lamentations we see...

“How lonely sits the city that was full of people! How like a widow has she become, she that was great among the nations! She that was a princess among the cities has become a vassal."

As this opening verse states: "She that was great among the nations," that is, once subject to her. As Ezekiel 5:5 declares: "This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the center of the nations."

Now, allegorically, "the city", in Verse 1 is the present church. The phrase: "that was full of people!" is indicative of the various tributes. And: "she was great among the nations" denotes obedi ence to the faith. Finally: "she what was a princess among the cities has become a vassal". This can refer to diversity within the Church, as discerned by a life-style prevailing.

Then again "How lonely sits the city that was full of people." This can indicate a loss of protection and aid from angels. And, "How like a widow has she become ". Namely, as she is taken away from her present spouse. Finally: "has become a vassal". That is, exposed to tyrants.

Morally, the phrase: "sits the city", connotes the human soul. And, the phrase, "that was full of people, indicates people of good affection.

Then, the saying, "great among the nations". Namely, regards corruptions. Also: "princess among the cities". That is, as to the human senses.

Then again: "How lonely": away from suffrages of goods. And, "like a widow". As to embraces of a husband. Finally : "has become a vassal": to corruptions. “

...can we see any parallels between the current situation of the medjugorje pilgrimage to Bethlehem and what st. Thomas says in his opening commentary to verse 1 of lamentations ??.... there is no obedience and so the church and her doctrines through the abuse of ecumenism has become a vassal to tyrants and corruptions (the seers themselves)....

"They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up – Hosea 8:7

He that troubleth his own house shall inherit wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart. Proverbs 11:29

Because the advocates of the apparitions of MEDJUGORJE sow wind so too will they reap a whirlwind of spiritual unrest..indeed it is an upright and steadfast inclination to frequent the sacraments however approaching the sacraments is only a small portion of the execution of the sacrament…to live the sacraments through a life examined thoroughly is necessary so that the flow of grace is unencumbered…the sacraments tether a soul to what is sacred…the sacred works the sacred words the sacred traditions all must be obeyed if one’s aim is to love God with their every fibre of being….to choose one’s own opinion over the opinion of an established successor to an apostle is to break the obeyance of the sacred chain…here is where the tragedy of medjugorje occurs…a spiritual rift occurs where one becomes lost in their own impetuosity…emotion replaces the spirit.. so a soul is tangled in a skein of subjectivity and relativism….. the end justifies the means and justice and prudence become separated from constancy and reason…consequentialism opens the door to latitudinarianism and indifferentism…and so since justice implies mercy and the perpetual unchanging will of God we see that someone who is a slave to their own subjective opinion is divorced from the sacred and so breaks the chain of grace that one may expect from the sacraments..this places the church in jeopardy…and so a vigilante magisterium evolves around this rebellious will…we see that the teleological principle of the church is threatened by the encroachment of the self….the notion of right and wrong are objective and the notion of merit and guilt fall on the subjective component of ethics…if one is to be ethically just and responsible towards their neighbor then one must approach a decision as to the veracity of such apparitions which have a universal impact on the belief of millions by an objective stance..one can only get an objective ruling from the church itself…the church itself has stated through its bishops that there is nothing supernatural occurring at MEDJUGORJE outside the miracle of the Eucharist and the freeing of sin which is happening by way of the sacraments..to make a decision based on a subjective stance then one is placing the salvation of many in jeopardy since a wrong conclusion can impute the guilt of one wrong decision onto others who may be influenced through inordinate zeal and imprudence…indeed what we see in MEDJUGORJE is a case of the blind leading the blind…

…we see even among the wise biblical figures that God has exhorted us to keep watch and be wise…placing all our trust in the church and the pastors whom God has  hierarchically stationed to keep watch over and withhold the catena aurea of faith and tradition….as it says in the song of Solomon…

[1] I am the flower of the field, and the lily of the valleys. [2] As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters. [3] As the apple tree among the trees of the woods, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow, whom I desired: and his fruit was sweet to my palate. ...you see in this instance the little foxes are the ones who nip at the vines of the church by advocating disobedience to the pastors which is a condescension to the word of God found in the Song of Songs….indeed Christ stands behind the wall of the edifice and the tradition and teaching of the church…he peaks through the lattices…by way of the mysteries of the faith we can glimpse him…however if we place visionaries in the place of apostles we weaken the wall of tradition and tear down the edifices of our own house...we are left in the darkness of our desire to see with our worldy eyes what can only be seen with faith..and so this is how the devil sifts the faithful as wheat...one by one he divides the flock to conquer through subjectivism....

The devil wishes to sift you as wheat….

And the Lord said: Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:....Luke 22:31

...by ourselves and by following our own will we will be sifted by the snares of the devil..we are single husks with shells hardened by the spirit of the world and sin and through the fall we are more disposed to cling to concupiscence and feelings of the flesh and emotion rather than divine reason...however when we are joined to the body of Christ and base our decisions on trust in his church and his pastors we cannot be sifted so easily

....we will be strong as one..we will be leavened by the virtue of obedience...all the wheat will commune together..confected at the Eucharist and through obedience to all the church’s doctrines and the mysteries of the faith we will unite ..unless a grain dies to the self it cannot become food for many...one bread one body...amen
