MEDJUGORJE POPE FRANCIS: INFORMAL OPPROBRIUM

MEDJUGORJE POPE FRANCIS: INFORMAL OPPROBRIUM

..from the words of Pope Francis in a recent homily...

“The spirit of curiosity distances us from the Spirit of wisdom…which gives us peace,” Pope Francis said at this morning’s mass in St. Martha’s House in the Vatican. Bergoglio emphasised that the Virgin Mary “is not postmistress, who sends messages every day" and asked faithful to understand that “the Kingdom of God is among us” and we should “not seek strange things.”

...we see the Pope is referring to visions on demand..these types of visions subvert the faith...by replacing the things not seen with things seen and touched...to walk in the dark light of faith is to walk in the way of abnegation (mortification)...or agnosia...the way of forgetting...when the soul has cleared itself of everything it is only God which remains...

...curiosity is a form of anxiety...it is taken as a vice opposed to wisdom if pursued with impetus of pride and self glory...

As St. Augustine says

Augustine says (De Morib. Eccl. 21): "Some there are who forsaking virtue, and ignorant of what God is, and of the majesty of that nature which ever remains the same, imagine they are doing something great, if with surpassing curiosity and keenness they explore the whole mass of this body which we call the world. So great a pride is thus begotten, that one would think they dwelt in the very heavens about which they argue."

As St Thomas Aquinas says curiosity becomes a vice opposed to virtue when…

, when a man studies to know the truth above the capacity of his own intelligence, since by so doing men easily fall into error: wherefore it is written (Sirach 3:22): "Seek not the things that are too high for thee, and search not into things above thy ability . . . and in many of His works be not curious," and further on (Sirach 3:26), "For . . . the suspicion of them hath deceived many, and hath detained their minds in vanity."

..of course this can do no-one any good since the knowledge they glean will be abused and be cast as pearls of wisdom before swine….curiosity is also known as concupiscence of the eyes since it is concerned mainly with the lust of knowledge for its own sake and not for the properly ordered knowledge of wisdom which is related to charity…

..as well if abnegation of the imagination exercises faith and abnegation of the will exercises charity and abnegation of the memory exercises hope then it follows that daily apparitions are an enemy to faith hope and charity…the three theological virtues…since daily apparitions provide food for the imagination to gorge in spiritual lust after signs and beautiful images, they provide food for the memory in which to bask and feel consoled thus subverting hope in the world to come and replacing it with rest in this world..as well by allowing the will to attach the intellect to such curiosities a soul fails in charity since it detaches itself from the love of neighbor and loses God who forever dwells in the moment…since such a one thinks of their own desires and seeks to satiate their own curiosity and fails in seeking God’s will..without charity no virtue is pleasing to God..since God is charity…

MEDJUGORJE CDF BOMBSHELL: THE SAINTS

MEDJUGORJE CDF BOMBSHELL: THE SAINTS

..from a recent letter addressed to the Bishops conference of the United States of America the faithful have learned that the Vatican has warned off public festivals asserting the truth and or credibility of the apparitions of MEDJUGORJE...

...let us hear what the wise the venerables and the humble saints have to say about faith and the importance of obedience to the decrees of the Church in our journey or the way of the cross...

"Although you perform many works, if you do not deny your will and submit yourself, losing all solicitude about yourself and your affairs, you will not make progress."

If a man wishes to be sure of the road he treads on, he must close his eyes and walk in the dark."

-St. John of the Cross

"Faith has to do with things that are not seen, and hope with things that are not in hand.

Hold firmly that our faith is identical with that of the ancients. Deny this, and you dissolve the unity of the Church.

--St. Thomas Aquinas

“Some people want to look upon God with their eyes, as they look upon a cow, and want to love God as they love a cow. Thus they love God for the sake of external riches and of internal solace; but these people do not love God aright ... Foolish people deem that they should look upon God as though He stood there and they here. It is not thus. God and I are one in the act of knowing

--Meister Eckhart

God has no need of your money, but the poor have. You give it to the poor, and God receives it.

--St. Augustine

Apart from the cross there is no other ladder by which we may get to heaven.

--Saint Rose of Lima

The first end I propose in our daily work is to do the will of God; secondly, to do it in the manner he wills it; and thirdly to do it because it is his will.

--Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

The will of the Bishop is the will of God

--Padre Pio

...and one poem which is not directly related to the topic yet is a personal favourite and hints of why people are drawn to apparitions as a symptom of loneliness and lack of love…

All things desire –Thomas Aquinas
ALL THINGS DESIRE

All things desire to be like God,
and infinite space is a mirror
that tries
to reflect His
body.

But it can’t.

All that infinite existence can show us of Him
is only an atom of God’s
being.

God stood behind Himself one night and cast a
brilliant shadow from which creation
came.

Even this shadow is such a flame that
moths consume their selves in it every second -
with their sacred passion to possess
beautiful
forms.

Existence mirrors God the best it can,
though how arrogant for any image in that mirror,
for any human being, to
think they know

His will;

for His will has never been spoken,

His voice would ignite
the earth’s wings

and all upon
it.

We invent truths about God to protect ourselves
from the wolf’s cries we hear
and make.

All things desire to be like God,
all things desire to
love.

MEDJUGORJE APPARITIONS BANNED : A Clever Diversion

MEDJUGORJE APPARITIONS BANNED: A Clever Diversion

..according to the fundamentals of contract law a Contract is defined as...

1) n. an agreement with specific terms between two or more persons or entities in which there is a promise to do something in return for a valuable benefit known as consideration

..as well there are certain elements which comprise a contract and these summarily are an offer, an acceptance of that offer which results in a meeting of the minds, a promise to perform, a valuable consideration(such as payment or a benefit), a time frame with which to perform the duties or commitments, terms and conditions, and performance...

..if one makes an analogy albeit crude calling Baptism a sort of spiritual contract whereby if one fulfills the promises one will reap the benefits..however this is not the sole reason for loving God yet it is a crude analogy for our purpose...

..indeed we can see similarities through baptism an offer of eternal life is made, the acceptance of that offer results in a union of spirit between God and a soul, there are certain promises such as eschewing evil and satan’s pomps, the payment of virtue is made to a soul who perseveres in truth and faith, terms and conditions would be to follow the commandments and the precepts of the Church and her decrees, the time frame is a lifetime, and performance coincides with a soul’s attempt at remaining as free from sin as possible through a regular examination of conscience...

...now concerning the recent decree by the Church to remand the faithful to desist from participating in any gathering where the credibility of any MEDJUGORJE apparitions be taken for granted we see we have a prior agreement and we have two parties at play...the Church has its duty to study and approve or disprove such apparitions ..indeed such a study has been made and it has been found that nothing supernatural can be ascertained..now the duty of the faithful in this contract must be duly noted and that is that no presumption...in latin praesumere (take for granted)...may be made concerning the credibility of any apparitions..indeed for an apparition to be credible it must have some sort of Authority backing it..in this case that Authority would come from the Church due to the nature of the contract of Baptism..

..here is the dubious commentary which veers from the truth with a clever diversion..

Clarification on Medjugorje Letter

Statement by Fr. Robert Faricy, S.J.

November 7, 2013

“These Medjugorje apparitions or supernatural revelations have not yet been formally approved by the Church. Therefore, clerics and the faithful are not permitted to participate in meetings or public celebrations during which the credibility of such apparitions would be taken for granted. But it is perfectly okay to believe in these apparitions and attend them in parishes. For example, a host church can say Ivan’s apparition will be at 5:40 p.m. To comply with the Most Reverend Gerhard Ludwig Mueller’s letter to the USCCB Conference, you simply add to the invitation or announcement of the apparition time, ‘These apparitions have not been approved formally by the Church.’ The parish, the clergy and the faithful would then be in compliance with the Apostolic Nunciature of the United States of America. PN 3980.

“The letter, informing all U.S. bishops, never states the cancellation of a Medjugorje visionary’s visit, such as Ivan’s schedule. It states Ivan is scheduled to appear at certain parishes around the country. Archbishop Carlo Marie Vigano continues, ‘It is anticipated, moreover, that Mr. Dragicevic will be receiving “apparitions” during these scheduled appearances.’It never states cancelling or banning Ivan’s visits. It stipulates only the requirement that the credibility of the apparitions not be taken for granted. Therefore, the simple statement suffices, “These apparitions are not formally approved by the Church.” Ivan, therefore, is free along with parishes, clerics and the faithful to have meetings, conferences and public celebrations as long as the above “not formally approved” statement is made so that the credibility of the apparitions not be taken for granted. The apparitions have not been proven or disproven. It is perfectly okay to believe in these apparitions, and to attend these events.

- Fr. Robert Faricy SJ
....indeed one is not even sure the attribution to the author of this letter(since it bears no signature) is genuine and so the faithful should be wary as to the credibility of such a letter in the first place....

.. notwithstanding , we have a clever deception or diversion at play in this commentary where it indicates meetings of the faithful may be made as long as a disclaimer is added to the program which states “the Church does not approve such apparitions”...indeed this is a clever diversion known in logic as an ignoratio elenchi or irrelevant conclusion...such logical fallacy diverts one from the point and effectively changes the subject matter and leads one to a conclusion which is similar but not the exact point one is required to prove...so we see by saying the Church does not approve we are broaching the duty of the Church ONLY...we have not called upon or examined the duty of the faithful of not to presume in public gatherings or not to participate in a gathering where the validity is deemed genuine..if the faithful are still presuming (taking for granted) in their mind that the apparitions are genuine then they are at variance in reasoning with the Church....if people wish to believe in private indeed they are free to do so...since any mind is free to think as it chooses...however this is imprudent since the CHurch has never validated such a claim...

...and so after reading the commentary and its positive affirmation that this disclaimer suffices one gets the false idea that the matter is adequately broached...

....in this contract we must also broach (call upon) the duty of the faithful and as such the faithful have a duty of not to presume publicly thus promoting confusion or take for granted any supernaturality or credibility...indeed an apparition is not credible if it is not stamped with the approbation of some Church authority who has jurisdiction on the matter..up until now the only authorities who have jurisdiction have maintained no supernaturality can be asserted..and so we see the faithful may not participate where a supposition in their mind occurs with the intention of validiating claims of a true vision of the Virgin Mary related to MEDJUGORJE...

....... so the above commentary only broaches the duty of the Church while subtly diverting attention from the duty of the faithful..if the faithful or the seers themselves maintain or presume any such supernaturality then the faithful and the prelates of the Church may not attend such a gathering...according to the decree of the Church.....no conclusive presumptions may be made in a public forum all such presumptions are indeed rebuttable (able to be challenged) since in the official mind of the Church no such parity of reasoned supernaturality has been made manifest.....  amen

MEDJUGORJE UPDATE: THE LIE

MEDJUGORJE UPDATE: THE LIE

..lying in itself is a vice opposed to truth..it is a hindrance to communication and charity in that it subverts or privates a person’s right to know and in this way it is also opposed to the virtue of justice...if a person does not have the knowledge they need to act rightly then this gravely subverts the natural order and leads to chaos...

..defined lying can be said to be any statement that is made which is in variance to the mind... and so a person has the intention to say what is false or in opposition to the construction or idea of reason as it rests in their mind...this is where we get the word mendacity from which means to be in opposition of the mind....indeed there are different degrees of lie and culpability..indeed if someone says what is false without the intention to deceive then they cannot be formally guilty of the lie since the guilt lies in sloth or complacency and ignorance however if the will is to deceive then the guilt appears and if voluntary falls within the phylum of  a lie formal...

...according to the catholic encyclopedia there are three classifications of lies..officious, jocose, & injurious...

..thomas Aquinas in his summa theological has further broken down the classes of lies to include habitual (those who lie for the lust of lying)...

..the officious lie is intended to either help someone or to save them from danger..the jocose lie is intended in jest or as a form of entertainment..and the mischievous or injurious lie contains other subclassifications but is intended to harm in its worse sense however other senses follow such as the injurious lie which profits no one however injures some..and this is the sort of lie we have seen at the phenomenon in MEDJUGORJE where at the beginning of the apparitions the children were asked what they were doing on the mountain and they replied watching sheep but later recanted and admitted to smoking..this mischievous lie they told the bishop himself..and so this type of lie although seemingly officious and not harming anyone indeed has harmed many since when the phenomenon at MEDJUGORJE is deemed false then many would have saved the price of admission to this spiritual circus if they had known at the outset that behind the apparitions were a troupe of devious youngsters who mischievously lied to an ambassador of Christ...indeed depending upon the maturity of the children’s faculties at the time maybe their culpability could be diminished although lying to a high ranking prelate is quite a grave matter especially about the Virgin Mary....setting the stage for scandal among the faithful and so we have the butterfly effect...and so the saying..

One lie begets another.  Once committed, the liar has to go on

in his course of lying;  it is the penalty of the liar’s transgression

                                         -F. Jacox

..and of course the devil will always try to negate the severity of his offence by trying to pawn off an injurious or mischievous lie as an officious or jocose lie since the devil is a devious joker and trickster by nature...

..indeed owing to the pastoral directives the sacramental outpouring of grace has benefitted many however the deception which underlies the whole affair is hard to ignore yet it is kept hidden from the scores of innocent faithful who travel to this place...

As Thomas Aquinas says about the penalty of lying...

A lie may be in itself contrary to charity by reason of its false signification. For if this be about divine things, it is contrary to the charity of God, whose truth one hides or corrupts by such a lie; so that a lie of this kind is opposed not only to the virtue of charity, but also to the virtues of faith and religion: wherefore it is a most grievous and a mortal sin. If, however, the false signification be about something the knowledge of which affects a man's good, for instance if it pertain to the perfection of science or to moral conduct, a lie of this description inflicts an injury on one's neighbor, since it causes him to have a false opinion, wherefore it is contrary to charity, as regards the love of our neighbor, and consequently is a mortal sin. On the other hand, if the false opinion engendered by the lie be about some matter the knowledge of which is of no consequence, then the lie in question does no harm to one's neighbor; for instance, if a person be deceived as to some contingent particulars that do not concern him. Wherefore a lie of this kind, considered in itself, is not a mortal sin

and from the Catholic Encyclopedia...

But if the common teaching of Catholic theology on this point be admitted, and we grant that lying is always wrong, it follows that we are never justified in telling a lie, for we may not do evil that good may come: the end does not justify the means......St. Augustine held that the naked truth must be told whatever the consequences may be. He directs that in difficult cases silence should be observed if possible...

..indeed there are special cases such as the use of mental reservations may be apt however the Church does not promote the utility of such machinations excepting those which are lawful....

..so we see at MEDJUGORJE there have been instances where a false signification has been made for instance regarding the great sign that should happen (a shrine erected in the 1980’s) which never did occur and this type of lie which had as its subject matter divine things or acts of God is more grave and scandalous as well since it is made in a public arena all the more so we should pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who have participated in this sordid affair so that reparation forgiveness and unity might take place and as one we may move forward as the Church militant conquering the errors of modernism and consequentialism.....amen...

MEDJUGORJE APPARITIONS BANNED/FORBIDDEN

MEDJUGORJE Vatican Commission: Censure on Apparitions

...according to a letter sent to the Conference of US Bishops by the Vatican..all alleged apparitions by Medjugorje Visionaries which occur in U.S. churches are censured as well the letter goes on to say...

all faithful and priests...

"are not permitted to participate in meetings, conferences or public celebrations during which the credibility of such 'apparitions' would be taken for granted."

..the letter can be seen at this link....

http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/cdf-bars-participation-in-events-assuming-truth-of-medjugorje/

...any such gathering would require a repudiation of official approbation or supernaturality in some explicit form...

…indeed the good angels themselves surely inveigh against the poor spiritual example the seers at MEDJUGORJE evince through their continued disobedience to ecclesiastic authority….

According to St. Bonaventure in his Mind’s Road to God there are six powers of the soul by which we ascend to God ....

. Therefore, according to the six stages of ascension into God, there are

six stages of the soul's powers by which we mount from the depths to the

heights, from the external to the internal, from the temporal to the

eternal--to wit, sense, imagination, reason, intellect, intelligence, and

the apex of the mind, the illumination of conscience ("Synteresis"). These

stages are implanted in us by nature, deformed by sin, reformed by grace,

to be purged by justice, exercised by knowledge, perfected by wisdom.

…and so we see at MEDJUGORJE the sense and the imagination have scattered the reason and the intellect…proponents have felt a stirring at this place and through the imagination have conjured up many pious feelings and devotions however this is not based in reality…the reason and the intellect tell us that the Church itself has not come to the same conclusion and so we must put presumption aside as Thomas Aquinas tells us regarding pusillanimity(fear of acting within one’s power) and presumption…indeed many proponents are also guilty of pusillanimity through shrinking from the greatness they might have attained in charity if they had worked to achieve obedience which indeed was in their power to apprehend..yet through inordinate zeal they have become complacent and fallen victim to acedia and many other unseemly habits...

“According to its proper species pusillanimity is a graver sin than presumption, since thereby a man withdraws from good things, which is a very great evil according to Ethic. iv. Presumption, however, is stated to be "wicked" on account of pride whence it proceeds"

..indeed we see presumption stems from the stalk of complacency, the root of which is pride..it is an evil habit to be avoided..let us look to the humility of the saints to guide us through the contentious difficult times so that we may find unity in truth and peace thereafter….

..thank God that the Vatican has censured the unorthodox Pharisee patterned spirituality of MEDJUGORJE..and by so doing has sent a message that devotion to Mary is a good practice yet disobedience to her Son’s Bishops is not so edifying or mystically apposite….amen
